Writing On Stone Provincial Park

Writing on Stone was definitely the shortest stop on my trip. I decided to overnight there as an alternative to Medicine Hat. I hadn’t heard too much about the park prior to arriving. Somebody I met the day before had suggested it as a stop over. To my surprise, I learned that it is actually a UNESCO World Heritage Site for the rock art. I have one photo below of part of “The Battle Scene” which is one of the most elaborate petroglyphs in the park. It depicts and actual battle that took place in 1866. Unfortunately, its kept behind a big ugly cage as others have taken it upon themselves to add to the art work.
